Cadet Protection Basic Course and the Summary Conversation are both tasks in Level 1. Members will find both listed under Level 1 Group 2 in eServices’ Professional Levels module. Please understand that these steps only apply to members needing to complete the Cadet Protection Basic Course for Level 1 and not for recurrent training.
Cadet Protection Basic Course
Members working on Level 1 complete Cadet Protection Basic Course via the Axis LMS. Cadet Protection Basic Course can be found under the Level 1 Training tab located on the far right of the top navigation bar in Axis. Once a member enrolls in Cadet Protection Basic Course, it will move to the front page of Axis under “Courses Not Started” or “Courses In Progress” depending upon whether the member has made progress in the course. Courses are listed alphabetically in all lists.
The last step in Level 1’s Cadet Protection Basic Course is for the member to acknowledge that the member must complete the Summary Conversation.
Once the member has completed the Cadet Protection Basic Course in Axis, the Cadet Protection Basic Course task in eServices’ Professional Levels module will be marked as “Approved” once the systems sync (overnight).
Summary Conversation
After the member has completed the Cadet Protection Basic Course, the member is ready to complete the Summary Conversation. The Summary Conversation can be led by a Commander, Deputy/Vice Commander, Chief of Staff, Administration Officer, Cadet Protection Officer, Education & Training Officer, or Personnel Officer. The Summary Conversation must cover the major elements of the Cadet Protection Policy, ensure the member understands the material covered in the Cadet Protection Basic Course, and address any questions/concerns the member may have about both.
To award/receive credit for completing the Summary Conversation:
- log into eServices
- navigate to Professional Development > Professional Levels
- click on Professional Levels
- enter the member’s CAPID (defaults to the member logged into eServices)
- select Level 1
- scroll down to Level 1 Group 2
- Cadet Protection Basic Course should be approved
- Summary Conversation should be blank
- update the Summary Conversation task
- check the box
- select the date the conversation occurred
- add a comment along the lines of “conversation conducted by <CAPID>”
- scroll to the bottom of the page and click submit
Once submitted, the Summary Conversation will show “Pending” until approved by one of the unit’s officers listed above (regardless who submits the task for approval).
